About HOYS

In the summer of 2006, the City of Hartford took a bold step towards changing the reality of our City’s youth by establishing the Office for Youth Services.  We believe that the City of Hartford has an obligation to ensure that all young people in our city are equipped with the tools, opportunities, and resources needed to grow into self-sufficient adults.

With a specific focus on coordination, accountability, capacity building, and strategic partnerships, the Office for Youth Services works with key public, private, and community stakeholders to ensure that Hartford’s youth age nine to twenty-four have quality opportunities to develop the competencies critical to academic success and future self sufficiency.

We know that youth who are engaged and well supported, at home, school, and in their communities have a higher likelihood of future success.  The Office for Youth Services is dedicated to ensuring that Hartford’s youth receive the supports they need to achieve their best.  With our many partners, we are working to build communities where all children feel safe, where all schools are portals to excellence in education and where youth have access to enriching and engaging after-school and summer activities.

This site provides information about the priorities and work of the Office for Youth Services.  We welcome your input, but most of all we welcome your support of Hartford’s youth.

Stand for Youth!
